Theater appreciates

coverage of arts

I know that I speak,not only for myself, but for the Board of Directors and the entire Mt. Hood Repertory Theatre Company organization when I say a resounding “Thank You!” to The Outlook for the splendid coverage and support that we are given each year. Your support of the arts is exemplary and visionary and is making a real difference in this community.

On a personal note: I did not expect to see myself leaping on the front page, and I much appreciate Ms. Nafinger’s article. However, I must make one correction. It was no actor portraying Colonel Sanders in that commercial but the good Colonel Harlan Sanders, himself. I recall that he bemoaned the fact that the chicken at KFC was nothing like what he had originated and extended all of our crew an invitation: “You boys come down to my place some time and I’ll cook ya some REAL chicken.” Fun memory.

Transparent system needed to pick councilor

I very much appreciate the efforts being made to make the selection of a new councilor an open and deliberative process. Past Gresham history shows that the precedent is clear for using a transparent method in selecting a new council member.

Prior to leaving for Korea today, Rep. John Lim e-mailed me to offer his endorsement for my candidacy. I have known John for many years. We connected early on because we both have similar philosophies regarding establishing sincere and open communication between citizens and those who are elected. It is a relationship that needs to be cultivated, and it is a trust that cannot be taken lightly.

With a city as large and vibrant as Gresham, I am hopeful that several candidates will come forward. I hope the Gresham leadership promotes it. This is a great opportunity for the mayor and council to put the Gresham Charter to work in an effective and timely manner.
