A Reynolds senior golfer once again shined on the district links, stringing together an impressive performance that claims a coveted spot at the state championships.
Mason Ho won the individual competition with 1,970 points at the Mt. Hood Conference Boys District Golf Tournament Tuesday, May 6. Ho held off a challenge from Central Catholic’s Michael Baldwin, who settled for silver (1,830 points).
Now the Reynolds golfer will prep for that 6A Boys State Tournament, which will be May 19-20 at OGA Golf Course in Woodburn. The goal will be to improve on the bronze medal he claimed last year.
Joining him will be the Central Catholic team, which won the conference bout, and David Douglas’ Micah Chadwick as the second individual automatic qualifier.
Several others earned spots in a regional tournament, which sends its top performers on to state as well. Clackamas, Nelson and Barlow took 2nd-4th respectively, sending them to that regional meet alongside three teams from the Three Rivers League. That Special District 2 Regional Tournament is May 12 at the OGA Golf Course. Sandy will send a pair of individuals to regionals — Soren Stark and Kaden Frediani.
